What you will be doing.
approx. 60 minOn Sunday 4 October 2026, the ARIMATSU KIMONO MARKET comes to moss ARIMATSU. More than 100 yukata will be laid out, in every colour, pattern and mood, for you to choose the one you like best.
Once you have chosen, you are dressed in it on the spot. Then head straight out into Arimatsu and enjoy the autumn streets in yukata. There is no need to return it: wear it home, and it is yours to keep.
The market also has plenty of second-hand kimono and obi from ¥1,000 — kimono, obi, haori jackets, nagajuban under-robes and accessories, including one-of-a-kind pieces you rarely come across. Some are easy to wear every day; others suit anyone thinking of starting out in kimono. A kimono for ¥1,000? You may well find one.
Enjoy meeting a kimono or an obi the way you would choose a yukata. You are just as welcome to come and look without buying or being dressed. Walk the town, look at kimono, find something you love: spend an autumn day that way in Arimatsu.

- The fee (¥5,000 incl. tax) covers the yukata, dressing, and the accessories needed to put it on (ties, datejime sash and so on).
- Footwear is not included. Please bring your own geta, sandals or similar.
- Some yukata cost extra depending on the pattern or type. You can check the price at the venue before choosing, and pay the difference there on the day (the advance booking covers the base fee of ¥5,000).
- Each session takes up to 7 people.
- The market is open 9:00–20:00. Dressing is available until 17:00; after that, the market is for shopping only.
- Online booking closes the day before. If places remain, first-come walk-ins are planned from 9:00 on the day.
- On a busy day we may not be able to dress you at the time you want. To be sure of a place, we recommend booking ahead.
- Meet on location. Please arrive at the venue by the start time.
